Individuals or institutions, who desire joining Psi Rho Alpha, must first request an application from the National Office.

Your classification of membership is important. There are particular concerns regarding annual dues, chapter dues, chapter affiliation, and other aspects to your membership that will impact your joining experience. All prospective members must complete either a Collegiate, Professional, or Chapter Application.

 

 

Psi Rho Alpha Membership is open to students or professionals who major or work in the following fields of study:

  • Music
  • Fine Arts
  • Theater
  • Dance
  • Film
  • Graphic Arts
  • Fashion Design
  • Culinary Arts / Baking and Pastries
  • Interior Design
  • Art History
  • Museum and Curatorial Practice for the Arts
  • Communication Arts (Visual and Performing Arts Emphasis)
  • Interdisciplinary Studies (Visual and Performing Arts Emphasis)

 

Collegiate Members: Individuals who join Psi Rho Alpha while enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

     (Undergraduate)

  • Have declared a major in one of the above specializations or academic programs
  • Have completed 45 semester hours, or equivalent, toward graduation
  • Have, and maintain, a minimum 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Pay initial membership fee of $50
  • Pay chapter dues

     (Graduate)

  • Be enrolled in a graduate program in one of the above specializations or academic programs.
  • Have completed 12 semester hours of graduate work, or equivalent, toward graduation
  • Have, and maintain, a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Pay initial membership fee of $50
  • Pay chapter dues

 

Professional Members: Individuals who have already graduated from college (either undergraduate or graduate), or those individuals who have accomplished 10 years of notable contributions to the field of visual and performing arts, but are not graduates of any art program or college/university.

Professionals who desire membership must request an application from the alumni chapter of Psi Rho Alpha in their area, or from the national office.  (see Application Request Tab for Application)

  • Have earned one or more specialization degrees or 10 years experience in the field
  • Earned a minimum GPA of 3.3 in undergraduate studies/3.5 in graduate studies
  • Have not been previously initiated into the honor society
  • Work in the field of visual and performing arts
  • Pay initial membership fee of $50
  • Pay national dues ($30)

 

Honorary Members:

  • Individuals who have made distinctive scholarly, professional, and research contributions to the field of visual and performing arts
  • Are elected by the Board of Directors
  • Have no affiliation with chapters, voting rights, or financial obligation
